St John

St John, one of the United States Virigin Islands, consists of three-fourths of a National Park. This leaves the island to be one of the most pristine islands of the Caribbean with its beautiful views and amazing sites. What is better than having such views from your porch while staying in your beachfront villa? It's an incredible view that will live on in your memory forever. Getting away from the beach, one can go hiking in many of the areas around St. John. Lots of the trails end on a flat land in what seems to be the sky, presenting a wide array of views of white beaches, cays (small islands), and the bluest waters.(see it on a map
Today, two-thirds of St. John is part of the Virgin Islands National Park, featuring wonderful trails, secluded coves, and white beaches. Due to the fact that the National park makes up a majority of St. John, it helps keep the island clean and looking as if it were never explored, truly an untouched island. The trails are a large part of vacationing on St. John, there are many of different kinds of hikers. One of the favorites is the Reef Bay Trail which takes hikers through forests, plantation ruins, and rock outcroppings marked by well-preserved writings from the ancient people that used to live on the island. Other trails and beaches are Trunk Bay, Hawks nest Bay, Cinnamon Bay, and Maho Bay which are just four of the dozens of beaches. When the day ends the activity begins! When the sun sets, stop by Cruz Bay because it is notorious for being the center of activity on St. John. There is everything from colorful shops, lively bars, and amazing restaurants.
Most accommodations on St. John are located in and around Cruz Bay, which is the ferry drop-off point from St. Thomas. Every place to stay is in easy reach of the Virgin Islands National Park, the legendary beaches, and cays along the island. Unlike St. Croix and St. Thomas (the other islands that make up the United States Virgin Islands), St. John offers camping for its visitors. So after your stay in a beautiful beach front villa, it's worth a try staying in the Cinnamon Bay Campground, which is "the most famous campground in the Caribbean," Other than camping, some say that St. John is one of the best places to go snorkeling. With a 5,650-acre marine preserve along the north coast of St. John, great snorkeling opportunities arise. There will be sights of all different kinds of fish that might be seen along the reef or the sandy bays.
